The Russian-Jewish Tradition

Published by Academic Studies Press in 2017, Brian Horowitz’s "Russian-Jewish Tradition" delves into the rich cultural tapestry woven by Jews within Russian society. Spanning 310 pages, this compelling work challenges the notion that Jews stood apart from their Russian counterparts, illustrating instead their deep cultural integration. Horowitz explores how Russian Jews engaged with the broader artistic movements during the Tsarist and Soviet eras, creatively adapting these influences to reflect their unique experiences and heritage. This synthesis led to the emergence of a vibrant, hybrid Russian-Jewish culture that is both distinctive and dynamic. Ideal for those interested in Jewish studies, cultural history, and biography, this book invites readers to reevaluate the complexities of identity within the Russian context through an academic lens.
